Lafayette

Lafayette is the “La” in La-mor-inda. Located along Highway 24, sandwiched between Orinda and Walnut Creek. It is a family-friendly community with a pleasant climate and excellent schools. Lafayette’s convenient location provides easy access for commuters to San Francisco via BART or Highway 24; as well as to points North and South via Highway 680.

Lafayette offers convenient shopping, restaurants , and services combined with a small town atmosphere. It has thousands of acres of dedicated open space with miles of hiking/biking trails, an active city recreation program, and year-round fun-filled community events to ensure its residents have access to a variety of leisure time activities and recreational opportunities.

Lafayette boasts many beautiful homes tucked into its hills and valleys. Most are gracious older residences in well-established neighborhoods. Many are on large lots; some with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, while others enjoy the peace and quiet afforded by the Lafayette Reservoir and adjacent Briones Regional Park.

Lafayette is included on Forbes’ recent list of the most expensive zip codes in the United States and homes in Lafayette tend to be expensive. Single-family homes in Lafayette start at $1 million and go up from there. The luxury homes of Reliez Valley, Happy Valley, Upper Happy Valley, and Hidden Oaks tend to be the more expensive and can start at the several million dollar mark. While homes along the St Mary’s corridor, the neighborhoods of the Trails and Burton Valley and farther South along St Mary’s Road tend to be more affordable. However, the homes in these neighborhoods certainly aren’t cheap, but they tend to be among the more affordable homes in Lafayette with starting prices of $1.5 million and higher.
